WELCOME to the DC Metro Young Professionals (DCYP) Kiwanis club website!  This is the website of the premier Kiwanis club in the DC metro area catering to young professionals.  We hope that you'll take a look around, learn about our club, see when our next service project or meeting is, and join us!

Becoming a Kiwanian in the DCYP Kiwanis Club provides an excellent opportunity for you to serve the community with other young professionals in the area and have a good time while doing it.  Not convinced yet?  Peruse this page, e-mail us, and join us for any of our service or social events.  Go on, we invite you!

Jazz at the Sculpture Garden 7/24/2009 Come join us for Jazz in the Sculpture Garden. This is a DC favorite during the beautiful summer weather. The group Young Lions (fusion rock/jazz) will be playing that night and with that name, I'm sure they are awesome. Please bring any blankets or food for yourself or to share. Consider this a Friday night picnic, so bring food, games (cards, Catchphrase, etc) and we will all have a good time. Diana will get there early to reserve a spot on the grass in the Sculpture Garden. E-mail dcyp.social@gmail.com for any questions or to RSVP. Please let Diana know if you can come so she knows how big of a spot to reserve!

This promises to be a good time! Metro accessible from Gallery Place/Chinatown and Archives/Navy Memorial.
Knitting Social/Service Project 7/26/2009 Knitting extravaganza!!

We are knitting baby blankets and baby clothes for an organization called carewear.org.
Several of our more seasoned knitters have offered to teach lessons, so feel free to come even if your a new/novice knitter!! All are welcome!

For more information (including location), please email our service team at dcyp.service@gmail.com
Sunday Suppers 8/16/2009 Sunday Suppers is an organization that sets up tables and chairs on the sidewalk at several parks in DC, pushes Motown, Soul and R&B out big speakers and shares an hour and 15 minutes visiting with people at each site, providing a warm meal. As important as the food and clothing we provide are, they are secondary to the real heart of the program:

sharing friendship with the people we serve and establishing relationships that continue from week to week.

We will be getting together beforehand to make soup, sandwiches and hard-boiled eggs. The location is TBD. Once we confirm the location, we will post here. Do not feel threatened by the duration of the event. Join us for 15 minutes or 5 hours -- we need all the help we can get.

For more information or to sign up, please email us at dcyp.service@gmail.com.

Hope you can join us!
DCPS Beautification Day 8/22/2009 DCPS Beautification Day was established in 2005 as the official day for a citywide "spruce up" of all DC public school buildings and front grounds in preparation for the opening of schools.

We will be volunteering at a local school. We requested to be placed at Cardozo Senior High School. Once that is confirmed, we will post here.

To sign up or for more information, please email our service team at dcyp.service@gmail.com.
